Finding Women’s Swimsuit That Other Girls Won’t Have

It is a new year and a time to start fresh and make those New Year’s resolutions stick. If you are like many, one of your resolutions is to get back into shape. By the time spring comes, this resolution will have changed into “getting in shape for swimsuit season. This Betsey Johnson has made things a bit easier (or maybe harder) by already revealing their new lines of swimwear for the 2010 season and much of what they have to offer is quite stunning and some of it not so much.

The Good

The first entry features the ever popular leopard print pattern. This is another bikini swimsuit
but that is where the similarities end. The Leopard -Print Wrap Around bikini from their swimwear line actually looks much like a halter top bikini. The top starts in the back but wraps around the front and connects at the top in back of the neck. The effect is both sexy and cute and promises much fun at the beach this summer.

The Weird

Sometimes being a little bizarre can be appealing, but that cannot be said for the Red Carter Slashed One-Piece swimsuit. It is certainly intriguing and it is a head turner. The Slashed began its life as a standard one piece swimsuit. It features one arm strap but that is nothing out of the ordinary. What is is the series of “slashes” or “rips” in the fabric. They designers may have been going for something naughty, but the end result was something that looks like a wild carnivore got a hold of. It makes you want to ask “Did she survive?” not “Where can I get one of those??”; not a good thing in the fashion industry.

Sounded Better at the time?

A quick look at all the swimwear that Betsey Johnson is offering this summer shows that many intriguing ideas. This season they are offering, in the category of Little Black Swimsuits, the topless bikini. They put in the category of Little Black Swimsuit, but it should be placed in “what were they smoking”. It may look like a joke but apparently Betsey Johnson is serious. But what were they thinking People have been going topless for decades without having to buy a specially designed swimsuit for the occasion. If the design was cute, they may have gotten away with it, however it looks like they were inspired by something else. The bottom to this looks normal enough except it has a single strip of fabric that stars out wide at the bottom and tapers down to a cords that tie around the neck. The overall effect is that the wearer is getting a particularly bad front wedgie. Amusingly enough, the topless bikini does feature a removable bandeau top, meaning that in the end it was not so topless after all.

It is not all bad

It may appear, after all this, that Betsey Johnson did not pull it off this year, but it would be a mistake to think this way. As the Leopard Print Wrap bikini shows. Actually most of what is being offered is very good, such as the Leopard Print Gold Ring Bandeau Top Bikini and the Sequin Sliding Triangle Top swimsuit show. They are simple but elegant and sexy. These and others are great, however the Betsey Johnson women’s swimwear that misses the mark is truly awful and overshadows what they did great this year.
